The human body was designed to move. Everything suffers when it doesn't.
Walking 8,000–10,000 steps daily reduces all-cause mortality by up to 50% compared to a sedentary lifestyle. That is not a gym program. That is not a supplement. That is just walking.
Movement is the most evidence-based intervention we have for cardiovascular disease, type 2 diabetes, depression, anxiety, cognitive decline, metabolic syndrome, and cancer risk. Nothing in modern medicine comes close to what consistent movement does for longevity.
This does not require extreme training. It requires daily movement as a non-negotiable baseline. Walk more. Lift twice a week. Stretch in the morning. Run when you can. Add Zone 2 cardio. Train with purpose.
The hierarchy: walking daily > structured training 3x/week > everything else. Get the basics right before optimising anything else.
How To Apply This
Walk every day - treat it as non-negotiable, not optional.
Lift weights at least twice a week for metabolic and skeletal health.
Zone 2 cardio (easy-effort running, cycling) builds aerobic base.
Mobility and flexibility work preserves quality of movement as you age.
Reflection
How many steps did you take yesterday? If it was under 6,000 - what one change would get you closer to 8,000 today?
